Dr. Bertie Ansell

Bertie completed their PhD in Structural Biology at the University of Oxford (UK) under the supervision of Prof. Mark Sansom and Prof. Christian Siebold. Their PhD focussed on the role of lipids in the mammalian Hedgehog signalling pathway and the development of computational methods for integrative structural biology. Bertie joined the Peay group in 2023 as a Schmidt Science Fellow jointly supervised by Dr. Peter Dahlberg (SLAC). They are interested in the mechanisms of inter-species contact, interface remodelling and molecular transport between plants and microbes. They will pursue the development of methods for high resolution imaging of plant-fungal-bacterial interactions from cryogenic tomograms.
