Dr. Gabriel Smith

Gabriel was a graduate student in the Peay Lab from 2016 to 2021. He completed a B.S. in Conservation Biology at the SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry in 2015. He then came to Stanford after a year as a Fulbright Fellow at the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences. For his PhD, Gabriel studied relationships between fungal community composition and decomposition across scales as well as the impact of wildfire on soil fungi. He’s currently a postdoc with Tom Crowther at ETH Zürich in Switzerland.
