Meili Stanten
Meili (she/her) joined the lab in August 2025 as a research professional working jointly with the Peay Lab and the Jackson Lab. She is primarily involved in a Stanford Sustainability Accelerator project investigating the role of fungi in old-growth forests as a natural climate solution to enhance soil carbon storage in secondary forests. Meili earned her BA from Wesleyan University in 2024, double majoring in Molecular Biology & Biochemistry and Science in Society, with a minor in Chemistry. Following graduation, she served as a 2024-25 California Climate Action Corps Fellow at the environmental nonprofit Grassroots Ecology. During that time, she developed a strong passion for ecology and land stewardship, and she plans to pursue graduate studies in mycology and ecological restoration to discover natural solutions to combat climate change.
